The Southwest Flying Club and Swift Current Airport are celebrating the centennial by welcoming the Century Flight Club.

The club features 100 aircraft flying from Eastern Canada to Nanaimo, B.C. and they’ll be stopping at the airport to join in the festivities, which include historical walking tours, plane rides, and an airshow by Dave Mathieson to be held at 4:30 and 5:45 p.m.

“He’s top notch,” Southwest Flying Club President Scott Carefoot said of Mathieson.  “He’ll dazzle.  It’s amazing how it looks like he’s out of control and he just saves it and does another loop right away.  It’s something.  He’ll have a good show.”

The festivities conclude later tonight with a dinner at 6:00 p.m. at the airport.  Tickets are $25 at the door.

Organizations: Swift Current Airport, Southwest Flying Club, Century Flight Club

Geographic location: Eastern Canada, Nanaimo

Would have been nice to see this held on the weekend when a greater number of people could have enjoyed it and not be working.

Yes for sure, they should have coordinated 100 aircraft travelling across Canada to accommodate your busy schedule. Has anything ever gone right in your life crankyboots?

I said it would have been nice. Guess you can't read very well. And usually an air show does coordinate 100 aircraft and happen on a weekend because, surprise, that's when you get the largest turnout and that's sort of what you want at a show. Duh! Good you like just average and don't hold out for more in your life.
