Southwest families can enjoy a family-friendly way to support the Fifth Annual Walk to Fight Arthritis this Sunday in Swift Current

Taiyah Reinhart, a Walk to Fight Arthritis 2014 Ambassador from Swift Current, will be hosting Taiyah's Movie Fundraiser at the Cinema Twin Theatre on Sunday where a special showing of Frozen as well as The Lego Movie both at 1 p.m. Either movie can be viewed for a $10 donation.

After the movie there will be a short one kilometre walk to show your support in the fight against Arthritis.

Events to fundraise for the 5th annual Walk to Fight Arthritis will be hosted in over 25 communities coast-to-coast, raising funds and awareness for the country’s leading chronic condition.

The Walk unites families, friends and organizations in a common goal of delivering support and solutions for the over 4.6 million Canadian adults and children living with arthritis. A leading cause of disability, arthritis costs Canada’s economy an estimated $33 billion a year in medical care and lost productivity. Funds from the Walk support promising research, education and local programs and care for Canadians with arthritis wherever they live.

This year’s theme asks participants: “Who Moves You?” This reflects the fact that most participants are walking for someone close to them who lives with arthritis.

“Arthritis touches us all,” says Janet Yale, president and CEO of the Arthritis Society, “which is why the Walk is so important. Coming together in communities across the country to show our support does more to raise awareness of arthritis, and the funds necessary to overcome it, than any other single day of the year. It also sends an important message to each Canadian living with arthritic pain: you are not alone.”

Sheldon and Kristin Reinhart are walking with their six-year-old daughter Taiyah, who was diagnosed with Polyarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis at the age of 15 Months.

“We had no idea how extensive the impact of arthritis would be on our lives,” says her parents. “However, watching Taiyah through this journey has been truly inspiring. She teaches us to appreciate the simple things in life and is wise beyond her six years.”

Movie tickets can be purchased by contacting Sheldon at 306-741-1674, Kristin at 306-774-4367 or from Babble Maternity.Baby.Kids
