Due to a rise in calls for grass fires, the Prince Albert Police Service is reminding the public about laws regarding fires within city limits.

Specifically, it is illegal to intentionally start a fire on city property within city limits outside of an approved fire pit defined according to local bylaws or without a burn permit.

Any person who sees what they consider to be suspicious behaviour should contact police immediately, taking care to make careful observations in regards to the potential suspects.

In investigating such incidents, police would consider laying charges of mischief or arson under the Criminal Code.
