The Canadian Mental Health Association’s 10th Annual Mayor’s Luncheon May 6 at Living Sky Casino Sky Centre features guest speaker Vaughn Solomon Schofield, Saskatchewan’s Lieutenant Governor.
Solomon Schofield has had a successful career in business and has provided leadership to international, national and provincial organizations.
A strong supporter of the Canadian Forces, she serves as the Provincial Chair of the Canadian Forces Liaison Council and is currently the Honourary Colonel of 38 Service Battalion.
From humble beginnings, the Mayor’s Luncheon has grown over the years into the major annual event in Swift Current offering Southwest individuals, organizations and businesses the opportunity to show their support for mental health initiatives.
A non-government and non-profit organization, the CMHA provides key services for people suffering from emotional and psychiatric disorders. The Branch’s “Drop-In Centre” is crucial in assisting those with mental illness make the transition back into the community.
The Swift Current Branch of the CMHA operates numerous educational, recreational, vocational and social programs. Its meal program served over 5,000 helpings last year for clients afflicted with mental illness.
The organization relies heavily on staff and volunteers dedicated to helping mentally ill clients become productive individuals in the community.
The luncheon takes place from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $50 each or $380 for a table of eight and are available only until April 28th at 306-778-2440.
