The City of Swift Current has announced that sewer and water main work will soon commence on a portion of South Railway Street West. The work required will allow for the development of a new business located directly west of Treen Meats.
This work will require the full closure of the affected portion of South Railway Street West specifically from Treen Meats west to 11th Ave. S.W. A detour route has been established and well marked to accommodate vehicular traffic. Access from the east to all businesses up to and including Treen Meats will continue to be from South Railway St. W.
The work will commence on Tuesday and it is anticipated that the road will then be reopened and fully operational by Friday.
“This is a challenging project with South Railway being a relatively busy truck haul route. We have given additional focus on ensuring adequate construction signage and traffic accommodation for the safety of workers and the general public,” explained Greg Parsons, the City’s Director of Engineering Services and Operations.
The City of Swift Current asks that the public drive responsibly around the work site and thanks everyone for their patience as this project gets completed.
