Motorists are being reminded of a series of impacts to city streets as a result of activity in and around Swift Current roadways over the next few days.
Today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, traffic will be reduced to one lane on 2nd Ave. S.E. from Dodds St. to Gibbs St. E. to allow city crews to complete a valve replacement.
Starting at 1 p.m. on Friday, the zero block of 1st Ave. N.W. will be temporarily closed for the annual Kinsmen Street Dance. The roadway will re-open at approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Traffic will also be restricted when Swift Current hosts the 2013 Western Canadian Baseball Championship. The portion of 19th Ave. between Bell St. and Laurier Dr. will be temporarily closed from Aug. 16 to 18 when baseball diamonds adjacent to those roadways host tournament action.
According to the City of Swift Current facebook page, motorists are asked to watch for work crews on Chaplin St. installing a new fibre optic line. Crews will be working from 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. between Aug. 8 to 11 to complete the utility construction work. Speeds will be reduced to 30 kilometers per hour around the work locations.
