The public is invited to attend the unveiling ceremony for the Metis Veterans Monument at Lac Pelletier Regional Park at 2 p.m. this Saturday.
The memorial salutes the sacrifice of 16 Metis from the Southwest who fought in the World War I and World War II and the Korean War, while the names of 100 Lac Pelletier and area pioneer settlers will also be included on the memorial.
The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. at the memorial site across from "The Point".
Following the celebration there will be a gathering at the Lac Pelletier Hall for entertainment and supper.
The project was formally launched earlier this year with a $22,575 grant from the Veterans Affairs Canada’s Community War Memorial Program.
