A hot rod enthusiasts summer highlight returns next weekend when the 2012 Eliminators Riverside Run roars into Swift Current.

The 32nd annual edition of the summer family fun run will be hosted on Aug. 17 to Aug. 19.

Most of the Riverside Run events take place at the Eliminators Club garage at 1255 North Railway St. W. Registration starts at 5 p.m. on Aug. 17 and closes early Saturday afternoon.

Saturday's Show and Shine takes place in Riverside Park and is a popular free event which allows the public to view the vehicles in attendance. Last year there were approximately 114 cars and trucks on display in this beautiful park setting.

The Eliminators Family Fun Run, as it was originally called, was started the third weekend in August back in 1980. For several years the Run was held at the group campsite area in Cypress Hills Provincial Park in Saskatchewan. Then, in 1988, the Run was headquartered out of the Frontier Saloon and parking area at Kinetic Exhibition Park for 20 years.

Then we spruced up and expanded our own facility in the city and renamed it 'Riverside Run' in 2008. We haven't looked back.

Out of town entrants are all eligible for the six trophies and everyone goes home with door prizes. There is also a special pre-registration prize for someone. However, the club's 23 members are not eligible for any trophy or door prize so that all visitors have a better chance at a prize.

On the evening of Aug. 18 the Club will be picking the winning ticket for our tool box/fridge raffle, and another for our Ultimate Garage Package. Raffle tickets are $5 each. Tickets are available from any club member or Gary Coombs at 741-6273.

To register for the 2012 Riverside Run, contact Montie Williams at 774-3058 or Ron Schultz at 741-1983.
