Shaunavon RCMP are reminding community members to properly secure their dogs following a pair of dog attacks over the past two weeks.

RCMP have recently investigated a trio of aggressive dog complaints, with one person bit by an aggressive dog and another incident requiring the euthanization of a family pet.

The Shaunavon RCMP report two of the events occurred near the Veterans Park area, with one of these incidents being the individual bitten by an aggressive animal. Charges are pending in one of these complaints, and the other is still under investigation.

They also report that a dog was euthanized after being bitten on June 20. RCMP report that a parent and three young children were out for a walk with their very small dog near 6th Ave. E. and 1st St. E. in Shaunavon. Their pet was on a leash when a very large dog ran out to the street and attacked the small dog. This investigation is ongoing, and RCMP are consulting with the Town of Shaunavon to review their existing dog bylaws.

RCMP are advising the public that it is their responsibility to ensure their pets are properly secured within their yards, and pets must be leased when they are off their property.
