After narrowly missing a noon hour storm Swift Current was not spared from a severe storm which struck shortly after 5 p.m.

Marble to loonie sized hail and heavy rain fell in the city for a 15 minute period during Swift Current's after work commute.

Localized flooding occurred as a result of the heavy rains from the storm, and city crews closed a portion of North Railway St. while water levels subsided. Power was out briefly during the midst of the storm, but portions of the city experienced longer outages.

There was an unconfirmed report of a funnel cloud directly over Swift Current at the height of the storm.

Golf ball sized hail was reported in both the Consul and Gull Lake areas earlier on Tuesday morning, with severe thunderstorm warnings and even a tornado watch issued during the extreme weather.

Environment Canada has ow ended all weather watches and advisories for the Southwest.
