The unavailability of registered nursing coverage has resulted in a planned temporary disruption of services at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre today from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. As a result of the disruption, no emergency outpatient services or acute admissions are available at the facility until 7:30 p.m. tonight.
As per normal protocol, the public are reminded to call 911 in the event of a medical emergency – an ambulance and its qualified staff will be immediately dispatched to assist with the emergency situation and transport to the nearest emergency department. The nearest acute care emergency department is available at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current.
Members of the public with a non-emergent medical issue can contact or visit the physician clinic in Shaunavon for assistance. As well, non-urgent health care questions can be directed to the provincial HealthLine at 1-877-800-0002 where a registered nurse is available 24 hours per day.
