About 250 members of Innovation Credit Union gathered at the Swift Current iplex Jan. 24 for the second of six special membership meetings being held to inform their members about the proposed merger with Conexus Credit Union and Synergy Credit Union.

The first meeting was held at Gravelbourg at noon on Jan. 24 and four additional meetings are scheduled in Cabri at noon Jan. 25, North Battleford at 7 p.m. Jan. 25, Glaslyn at noon Jan. 26 and Meadow Lake at 7 p.m. Jan. 26.

Members listened to presentations by Russ Siemens, Board President Gord Lightfoot and Interim CEO Susan Woods, watched a video outlining the benefits of a merger, and had the opportunity to ask questions and voice their thoughts and concerns prior to casting their votes.

The merger proposal was prompted by the potential for greater strength gained through economies of scale, long-term gains in efficiency and a stronger capital position, all of which position the merged corporation for continued growth and the ability to meet increasingly complex and costly regulatory standards.

The votes are being tallied by Deloitte and the final results will be announced following the vote at the special membership meeting in Meadow Lake on Jan. 26, through press releases and on the Innovation web site at www.innovationcu.ca.
