A book preserving the rich history of the Swift Current Fire Department was officially unveiled on Friday.
The 192 page book highlights the major fires and significant events which the Fire Department has been involved in since being established in 1910.
The book took two years to complete, with many hours of interviews and research going into the project.
The book project was also the recipient of a $6,025 grant from the New Horizons for Seniors Program in 2006
"We saw that as a way to get our retired members back in and help us complete a project we felt was important," Fire Chief Bob Rindahl said during the book launch.
"We're certainly proud of the outcome of this project. The book is an excellent first start. We're a couple of years away from our 100th anniversary, maybe we can add to it for that," Rindahl added.
During Friday's book launch the fire department presented a number of retired fire fighters and their spouses with copies of the new book.
The public can purchase a copy of the book for $20 at the Swift Current Fire Hall, Swift Current Library, City Hall, plus the Swift Current Museum Gift Shop.
