Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall will be nominated as the Saskatchewan Party candidate in the Swift Current constituency during a meeting on March 20 at the Home Inn and Suites.

The Saskatchewan Party's road to the 2016 provincial election will begin in Swift Current, with Premier Brad Wall scheduled to be acclaimed the first Saskatchewan Party candidate during a meeting on March 20.

“It is an unqualified honour to represent the constituency of Swift Current and to carry the Saskatchewan Party banner into the next election,” Wall stated in a press release. “I will never take either honour for granted.

“It’s time to start getting ready for the next election and that means nominating the team of women and men who will be representing the Saskatchewan Party and working to earn the trust of Saskatchewan voters.”

Wall, who was first elected as the Swift Current MLA since 1999 and has served as Saskatchewan premier since 2007, said he expects a strong mix of experienced MLAs and new faces to represent the Saskatchewan Party in the next election.

“I have asked all of the Saskatchewan Party MLAs to let me know whether they plan to run in the next election so we can move forward with their nomination or, if they are not running again, so we can begin the process of selecting a new candidate in their constituency.”

Following Wall's nomination meeting on March 20, a total of 60 other Saskatchewan Party nominations will be taking place across the province.

“I have always told every candidate that the best thing they can be doing is meeting and listening to as many voters as possible in their constituency. That’s why the Saskatchewan Party believes in getting candidates nominated early – so they have as much time as possible to meet and earn the trust of their constituents.”
