Driving conditions poor near Regina this afternoon

RCMP in the Regina area are issuing a warning to the motoring public. Highways in and around Regina are experiencing extremely icy conditions along with drifting and blowing snow. RCMP are strongly advising motorist not to travel if at all possible until road conditions improve.

RCMP around the Regina area including Moose Jaw, Craik, Indian Head and Milestone are all attempting to respond to several motor vehicle collisions. The road conditions are such that emergency vehicles are having difficulty attending these scenes. With the impending commuter traffic coming from Regina onto the area highways, the RCMP are concerned further collisions will occur.

The Moose Jaw RCMP detachment reports their members are currently on the scene of a motor vehicle collision on the TransCanada Highway, 10 kilometers East of Parkbeg. The East bound lane of highway #1 at the scene of the collision is completely blocked until the vehicles can be removed from the roadway.
