The Cypress Health Region’s first annual Safety Expo is scheduled for Sept. 13 in response to the identification of safety as the Region’s number one value.

The free come and go event begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 9 p.m. at the Cypress Regional Hospital, with an array of prizes including two Apple iPads awarded to lucky participants.

“Last year the Region hosted a very successful Transfer/Lift/Repositioning Expo in which more than 150 staff attended,” commented Jill Gates, Patient Safety Coordinator for Cypress Health.

“We’ve decided to build off of that success by making this into a larger, more safety focused event that is also open to the public. With safety being the most important value of the Cypress Health Region, we believe it’s important to provide this Expo to not only educate, but also receive feedback on safety.”

The Safety Expo will bring a variety of exhibits together to educate staff and public on the important topic of safety. The public will be able to participate in exhibits to learn how to properly wash their hands; tour a bariatric ambulance; learn effective techniques for transferring, lifting, or repositioning objects; decrease the risks of falling; live a healthy lifestyle through exercise and nutrition, and much more.

The Expo will also be an opportunity for Cypress Health Region staff members to continue to enhance their knowledge of proper techniques for delivering safe healthcare services.

For more information on the Expo, call 778-5283 or 778-5179.
