They're back! Vintage Wings of Canada is in Swift Current for the weekend as part of a fund-raising tour, and flights are available in a WWII Boeing Stearman bi-plane, fresh from its official dedication to veteran Harry Hannah, and being delivered to Calgary as the first Vintage Wings aircraft of their satellite location, Vintage Wings West.
Harry Hannah actually flew this plane due to the efforts of Vintage Wings, who tracked him down. At the age of 92, Hannah was spry enough to jump onto the wing and settle in the front seat unassisted. He had flown Tiger Moths and Harvards, but had never flown a Stearman until this plane was dedicated to him.
The cost of a flight in this bi-plane, one of only two in the world known to be flight capable, is a Vintage Wings of Canada membership of $125 plus a $250 sponsorship to cover fuel and maintenance.
Visit the Swift Current Airport for more information about this tour, or to book a flight. More information about Vintage Wings of Canada is available at their website: www.vintagewings.ca
