Premier Brad Wall announced earlier this morning that the province is delivering $450,000 to proceed with plans to rejuvenate long-term care in Swift Current.
The funding from the Ministry of Health will permit the Cypress Health Region to develop detailed capital planning for a new long-term care facility, details needed by the province before advancing to the approval stage.
The plan will look at determining the scope of work needed to replace the exisiting three long-term care facilities in the city. There three facilities boast a total of 194 long-term care and four respite beds.
"We are extremely appreciative that provincial funding will be made available to initiate the functional planning for long-term care replacement in Swift Current," Cypress Regional Health Authority chairperson Tyler Bragg said in a press release. "This project has been a key capital project priority for the health region and its predecessors for some time, and we look forward to working with the Ministry of Health and our community stakeholders in determining the scope and expenses associated with such a project."
