The Canadian Patient Safety Institute launched Canadian Patient Safety Week in an effort to ensure every Canadian in need of healthcare can be confident that the care they receive is the safest in the world.The Cypress Health Region is pleased to once again be taking part in Canadian Patient Safety Week in 2009, commented Angela Muzyka, Accreditation and Patient Safety Coordinator for Cypress Health said that they are committed to doing the best job possible to provide a safe healthcare system for everyone.Between 9,000 and 24,000 Canadians die each year from preventable adverse events in healthcare which is estimated to be more deaths than there are deaths of breast cancer, motor vehicle accidents, and HIV combined.By communicating with your healthcare provider by asking, talking, and listening can help prevent these unnecessary instances.
