The Saskatchewan Country Music Association has announced its nominations for the 2011 SCMA Awards, and southwest Saskatchewan is contributing to the impressive line-up.
Swift Current's CKSW has been nominated for Radio Station of the Year, Secondary Market.
Catherine Lewans is one of five young women in contention for Female Vocalist of the Year.
Ben Beveridge is among six musicians nominated for All Star Band Fiddle Player of the Year, and Clayton Linthicum is battling for All Star Band Steel Player of the Year against Tim Romansun.
Glenna Switzer is one of seven nominees for Country Music Person of the Year
Lorraine Hartsook has been nominated for Country Gospel Album of the Year for Through The Fire, one of four contenders in that category.
The winners will be announced April 2 and 3 when the South West Country Music Association hosts the 22nd Annual 2011 SCMA Awards at the Living Sky Centre.
The SCMA Awards will get underway April 1 with a Kick Off Party and Pub Crawl held at the historic Lyric Theatre in downtown Swift Current.
Starting at 5 p.m., members of the Southwest Chapter and Saskatchewan nominated artists will be performing on the stage at the Lyric as well as at the following downtown clubs: Big I, the York, Louis D's, the Acropol, Lucky Charlie's and the Buffalo Brew Pub.
On Saturday April 1, the schedule features seminars, the AGM luncheon, Adult Showcase, President's Banquet at the Sky Centre and a Southwest Stomp at the iplex.
Sunday April 2 opens with a Gospel Brunch and Showcase at the East Side Church of God, followed by the Youth Showcase and Songwriter's Café at the Lyric Theatre and the SCMA Awards Show at the Living Sky Centre at 7 p.m. The Lyric is hosting a post-awards party at 10 p.m.

It is the goal of the Host Committee that every nominated artist performs at some point throughout the weekend and to have as many Southwest Chapter members perform as well.
