The Cypress Health Region and Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation are pleased to announce that the covered walkway project at the Cypress Regional Hospital is nearing completion and the main entrance will once again be available.

As of Feb. 11, visitors, patients, and the general public will be able to enter the facility through the main entrance, and continue to allow those facing emergent situations to enter through the emergency entrance.

The covered walkway project has been jointly planned and developed by the health region and the Foundation. A significant financial contribution to the Foundation from the Estate of the late Jessie Alberta Grant and discussions with the Estate’s representatives paved the way for the project. Construction began in mid-October 2012.

“Although there are some minor tasks yet to be completed, the project has reached a stage of completion where it can safely be opened to public access,” stated Anita Sagadahl, Director of the Cypress Regional Hospital. “The remaining tasks will be completed in the near future by the contractors and our staff. This covered walkway is going to provide many benefits to our patients and visitors who are entering the facility.”

“We are so very thankful to the Ms. Grant’s Estate and the Foundation for their support and assistance in making this addition a reality,” added Sagadahl.

The Dr. Noble Regional Healthcare Foundation has been a strong partner throughout the planning and construction process.

“This project is one that has been identified as a need for several years and we are very pleased to have played a role in seeing the covered walkway constructed,” said Clay Thompson, Executive Director for the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation.  “It will offer a much-needed level of safety and comfort for visitors entering the facility from the main parking lot.”

Thompson added that a formal grand opening ceremony will be held in the future to acknowledge the completion of the covered walkway and to celebrate the tremendous support provided by the Estate of the late Ms. Grant.

Cypress Health Region would like to thank the public, patients, and visitors for their patience and assistance during the construction period.
