Swift Current’s Olympic Torch Relay celebration on Jan. 10 received a boost thanks to a recently announced federal government commitment.

Cypress Hills Grasslands MP David Anderson announced a $15,000 contribution to the local celebration from the Government of Canada. The funding will be used to highlight local talent and artists, provide interactive activities to engage youth and other individuals.

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay will be the longest domestic relay in Olympic history. Events and activities organized by each celebration community across Canada will highlight Canadian pride in our athletes, culture and country.
