The Write Out Loud committee at the Lyric Theatre is pleased to announce it will be selling season subscriptions for the 2013-14 Write Out Loud series.
Subscriptions will be $30 for seven events. Individual admission at the door is $5, so the subscription price provides one free admission. Tickets may be used for one admission per event, or you may host a group of friends at a reading of your choice.
The 2013-14 line-up includes: Candace Savage on Sept. 18, Katherine Lawrence on Oct. 16, Lisa Bird-Wilson on Nov. 20, Local Authors on Feb. 19, Sean Virgo on March 19, Barbara Sapergia on April 16 and Brenda Baker on May 21.
Candace Savage will be reading excerpts from A Geography of Blood: Unearthing Memory From a Prairie Landscape. This book received three awards at the 2013 Saskatchewan Book Awards.
Katherine Lawrence's first collection of poetry, Ring Finger, Left Hand won the Best First Book award at the 2001 Saskatchewan Book Awards.
Lisa Bird-Wilson will be presenting a reading from Just Pretending: A Collection of Short Stories. This book was shortlisted for the 2013 Saskatchewan Book Awards.
Sean Virgo will be reading form Dibadalen, which was shortlisted for the 2013 Saskatchewan Book Awards.
Barbara Sapergia's fifth book of fiction, Blood and Salt, was published in 2012 and shortlisted for the 2013 Saskatchewan Book Awards.
Brenda Baker is a writer and performer who has been a part of Saskatchewan's music and literary scene for over three decades. She will be presenting samplings of her varied works.
There will be raffles for various prizes at each event, as there have been at past Write Out Loud events, but this year there is one more prize available. At each event, your name will be entered into the year-end prize draw, to be made at the May 21 event, and one lucky Write Out Loud attendee will win a Kobo e-reader. The more often you attend, the more often your name will be entered into the draw.
The season series kickoff with award-winning author Candace Savage will be hosted on Sept. 18 at the Lyric Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with musical entertainment beginning at 7 p.m.
