Country music fans will enjoy a unforgettable evening of music when country star Jo Dee Messina plays the Living Sky Casino on May 24.
Messina has announced eight Canadian dates as part of her current North American tour, with Swift Current's show one of just five Saskatchewan dates.
Joining Messina for her Living Sky Casino concert will be Canadian country music star Beverley Mahood.
Tickets for the concert will go on sale shortly.
Messina broke onto the music scene in 1996 with her self titled debut release which contained the hits Heads Carolina, Tails California and You’re Not In Kansas Anymore. Her second album I'm Alright boasted the chart topping Bye Bye (ASCAP’s Song of the Year), I’m Alright and Stand Beside Me. Messina won the American Country Music Association’s Top New Female Vocalist award in 1999, the CMA Horizon award and the nod for Most Played Country Female of 1999 from Billboard.
Things only got better for Messina, as in 2000 her third album Burn entered the Country Albums chart at top spot, eventually becoming a platinum seller and earning Messina a pair of Grammy nominations.
Special guest at the May 24 concert will be Beverley Mahood.
Mahood has become a mainstay on Canadian country stations since bursting onto the charts with her 1998 debut release Girl Out of the Ordinary. Her subsequent releases: Lace (1999), Moody Blue (2004), and Unmistakable (2009), has also spurned heavy rotation singles. She is also working on a new album, which is expected to be released later this year.
Mahood is a popular personality on CMT Canada, and she hosts the hit series Pick A Puppy. She also has a loyal legion of fans across Saskatchewan thanks to her dedicated efforts during the annual Telemiracle.
