A blood donor clinic will be hosted in Swift Current on Aug. 13 and 14, giving people a chance to roll up their sleeves to give blood instead of working on their summer tan.

The blood donor clinic runs at Bridgeway Community Church from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 13, plus from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 14.

Appointments can be made by phoning Canadian Blood Services at 1-888-2DONATE (1-888-236-6283), and walk-in donors will also be accepted.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are encouraging supporters who bleed green in support of the Rider Nation to give blood as part of their Bleed Green initiative. As part of a season-long partnership the Riders are encouraging fans from across the province to show their Rider Pride by donating blood. Nearly 15,000 more units of blood will hopefully be donated from now until the end of the campaign. The initiative highlights the fact that every 60 seconds someone in Canada needs blood. Bleed Green runs until Oct. 17.
