Rushka wins Governor Generals Medal

Jerrim Jacob Rushka, from the Wymark district, has been awarded the Governor General's Medal. He was presented with the award at Friday's Swift Current Comprehensive High School 2009 graduation ceremonies.

Jerrim Jacob Rushka, from the Wymark district, has been awarded the Governor General's Medal. He was presented with the award at Friday's Swift Current Comprehensive High School 2009 graduation ceremonies.

The Governor General's Medal is presented in high schools to the graduating student who has achieved the highest academic average over their grade 11 and 12 years. this is the most prestigious award that a student can earn.

Rushka graduated with 32 credits and an overall average of 97.1 per cent.

In addition to the Governor General's Medal, Rushka has won the Kinetic Award for overall achievement by a Grade 12 student. He also has been a member of the Saskatchewan Honour Choir and recently received a national Millennium Excellence Award.

Jerrim Rushka is going to be attending the University of Lethbridge and will be working towards a Bachelor of New Media. He has been awarded a Fine Arts Entrance Award, a Board of Governors' Award as well as the Chinook Leadership Scholarship from the University of Lethbridge.

Brett and Gay Rushka are the proud parents of Jerrim.
