A quartet of Chinook School Division facilities are among the 102 Saskatchewan schools sharing $142 million in infrastructure funding.
Earlier this morning the provincial government announced their funding portion towards a series of school infrastructure spending in 63 communities.
In the Chinook School Division the funding will assist roof replacements projects at Ponteix School, along with Swift Current's Fairview Middle School, Central School, and the Swift Current Comprehensive High School.
The funding will also complete the renovation/addition project at the Maple Creek Composite High.
The largest portion of the funding, $10.1 million, will support 43 roof replacement projects, however 10 relocatable classroom projects will be completed at a cost of $3.8 million, a total of $117,497 is being spent on 18 construction completion projects this April and May, and a total of $903,000 is being spent on seven accessibility projects.
The funding is part of the $500 million "economic booster shot" announced by Premier Brad Wall last week.
"We want to ensure our economy stays strong. By moving ahead quickly on these much-needed projects, we are helping both our children and the economy," Education Minister Ken Krawetz stated in a press release.
