One family based in the Southwest found a way to tie all their wedding knots tightly.
Leroy and Dora Wall of Main Centre, along with their extended family celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 19. They were married at Main Centre on July 27, 1958.
This milestone marked the seventh and final couple from the Block family to reach their 50th wedding anniversary.
One special event was the fact that all of Dora's siblings were present. The youngest of seven children, Dora and her husband were the last of the family to celebrate their golden wedding. All were married between 1947 and 1958.
The oldest three Block sisters married three Braun brothers. Lydia and John Braun married in 1947; Frieda and Jake Braun married in 1948; Leona and Peter Braun married in 1949; Selma and John Redekop married in 1953. They all reside in Swift Current. Elsie and Dan Schindel of Chilliwack, B.C, married in 1954; Ernest and Lois Block of Main Centre married in 1956; Dora and Leroy Wall married in 1958. This is a total of 391 years of marriage for seven children.
All seven children were born at Main Centre after their parents emigrated from Russia in 1926.
These seven couples were all members of the Main Centre Church at the same time along with their parents. All seven couples have now celebrated their golden anniversary and the eldest two have already celebrated their Diamond anniversaries.
Of over 120 family members only the parents have passed away to date.
