Swift Current's sixth annual Jumpstart Day will take place at the Swift Current Canadian Tire this Saturday, with a day full of activities in support of helping children participate in organized sports.
Saturday's day-long event is in celebration of the Jumpstart Red Ball campaign, which, through the month of May, encourages customers to donate $2 in exchange for a Red Ball - a national symbol for child's play. One hundred per cent of every donation made in the community stays in the community. On Jumpstart Day, customers can donate through a fundraising barbeque and particiapte in activities for the whole family. All money raised will be donated to local Jumpstart children in order to help the one in three Canadian families who cannot afford to enroll their kids in organized sport.
Over the past nine years the national Jumpstart program has helped more than 730,000 kids by removing financial barriers that prevent kids from participating in organized sport, including the costs of equipment, registration and/or transportation.
