The Shaunavon Arts Council will be hosting the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School for a special performance outside of their regular concert series.
On Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Shaunavon Public School the senior dancers of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School will perform a fully staged and costumed performance, presenting a mixed repertoire that includes classical ballet, modern pieces and excerpts from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet repertoire.
This performance is an opportunity to bring the art of dance to rural communities that would not necessarily have an opportunity to experience this performing art. This will be one of only two community performances they will be doing in Saskatchewan.
A unique aspect of the tour is that the dancers all pitch in getting ready for the show, taking on tasks that would normally be done by a technical crew, such as laying down the dance floor, assembling and setting up the ballet barres, etc. This allows students to gain experience touring and performing for a live audience and are invaluable in preparing them for the demands of a professional career.
Tickets are available at the Grand Coteau Centre or at the door. Adult tickets are $20, $7 for teens and $3 for children.
