The Swift Current Broncos and Farm Credit Canada have teamed up to Drive Away Hunger when they collect food and cash donations prior to the Broncos game on Saturday, October 12.

The Swift Current Broncos Hockey Club announced that the organization has teamed up with Farm Credit Canada to host Drive Away Hunger.  FCC volunteers will be on hand collecting food and cash donations prior to the Broncos home game against the Vancouver Giants on Saturday, October 12.  All food collected will go to the Swift Current Salvation Army.

FCC volunteers will be handing out collection bags on Wednesday, October 9 when the Broncos host the Calgary Hitmen.

“As we approach Thanksgiving, it is important to remember those who may be less fortunate,” explained Michelle Sandercock, FCC Director, Swift Current District. “FCC’s Drive Away Hunger program is a great opportunity to work together to reduce hunger and make a difference for those in need in Swift Current. We are very excited to have the Swift Current Broncos as partners this year.”

In Swift Current more than 800 food hampers are distributed each year.  Provincially, over 24,600 people are assisted by a food bank each month and 48 per cent of those are children.
