The first testing date is being offered on Sept. 3 in Swift Current, with additional testing dates offered throughout the year at both campuses.
"This is an opportunity to provide a new service to welding sector employers and their employees and also to enhance our Welding Certificate program," said Karen Richmond, Program Coordinator, Swift Current Campus. "We are the first college in Saskatchewan to have this designation, so our students will have a leg up on other welding program graduates when competing for jobs in the welding sector."
The Canadian Welding Bureau is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as a Certification Body, and their certification means that a certified company, individual or product has met all the Certification Standard requirements.
College offers welding testing
Great Plains College campuses in Swift Current and Rosetown are the first colleges in Saskatchewan to offer testing services in collaboration with the Canadian Welding Bureau.
