With numerous new building's going up in and around Swift Current many are starting to feel the growth and anticipation for new businesses.

One building that will be opening its doors soon is The Brick. With the 20,000 square foot building, construction has gone very well.

"Construction is actually tremendous. Mr. Bridal and his crew from Bridal Construction have been doing an awesome job," explained Mike Kesslar, General Manager for The Brick.

"All of the contractors and subcontractors that we have used from Swift Current have been terrific to work with. They have been on time, on budget, it's been extremely refreshing."

With construction going so well many tasks have already been completed to the building.

"We are working right now on the dry walling, it's half way done, the framing has been completed, the pluming and electrical is now coming. The plumbing is virtually completed, the heating is done, and now we are working on the rest of the electrical. Next week the flooring guy gets in, so that will be one of the last major contractors working in there."

Despite fast moving construction, Kesslar still anticipates the same move in date.

"We are still looking at opening our doors late March early April."

Kesslar has been working hard these past few months to make the Brick in Swift Current stand out from all the others.

"We are going to have is four significant areas. The largest mattress gallery, I think we will have in Swift Current, featuring our three big brands Sela, Serta and Simmons. A large appliance gallery, our television and electronics gallery. We will have about 60 televisions on display and something that Medicine Hat doesn't have is a sofa wall. This is where we will actually have sofa's stacked into walls. If you have two designs of the sofa and two different colours, then there will be one on the floor and the other colour up on the wall."

With a new company coming into Swift Current means new job opportunities. Kesslar anticipates hiring locally.

"I am going to hire as many people locally as I can, just like the contractors I want to do everything locally."

Even though the store has not advertised for jobs just yet, Kesslar has already hired two employees.

"Oddly enough I have hired two people locally already. I really have not been looking for them they just kind of came to me. I have my e-mail address posted on the sign outside the building and people have been sending me e-mails already. However we will probably do some career ads in the beginning of March."

Kesslar who was born and raised in Swift Current moved away to start his career but since being back, many have expressed their excitement for the upcoming Brick.

"What I hear from a lot of people is two things. One, that there is going to be another choice to buy things in town. It's always nice to have a choice. The second is the city is starting to evolve into another era where it's been 16,000 people for 20 years. Now there are some noticeable things happening in the city that are indicators that the city is starting to get ready to grow dramatically."

Currently the Brick has six locations across Saskatchewan.
