The Association of Saskatchewan Realtors was proud to announce a new Saskatchewan Realtors Care Fund and Granting Program at a special members meeting in Swift Current on Nov. 21.
A total of $130,000 from the Association has been placed under the professional fund management of the Saskatoon Community Foundation. From that $130,000 total amount, $100,000 will be used to establish a long-term endowment fund, and $30,000 will be used in 2013 to provide a grant of $5,000 in each of six different regions, including Swift Current and district.
An application process will be further launched in January 2013 and local members will be encouraging charitable agencies to apply with new project proposals and ideas that will enhance the Quality of Life in this local area. Eligible agencies will include those charities that:
- Support shelter-related services in our communities;
- Enhance environmental sustainability, protection and conservation of natural areas;
- Promote safer neighbourhoods and improved community services; and
- Enhance and promote community development and better opportunities for “at risk” populations and disadvantaged citizens.
The Association will also be organizing fundraising initiatives throughout the province to bolster the fund. The intent is to establish a long term, sustainable initiative – the Saskatchewan Realtors Care Fund - that will continue providing grants on an annual basis to deserving local agencies from these fundraising activities and from the interest earned on the initial endowment.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Saskatchewan real estate industry to improving the Quality of Life throughout the province.
