A field of 21 businesses have been selected as finalists for the 2012 Spirit of Swift Current - SCBEX awards.

A field of 21 businesses have been selected as finalists for the 2012 Spirit of Swift Current - SCBEX Awards.

The Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce unveiled their list of finalists in five award categories hours after the close of nominations.

Winners in the following five categories will be announced at the SCBEX Awards on Oct. 18.

In addition to the list of category finalists, the Chamber announced their their two Hall of Fame Inductees for 2012 will be Mercator Financial and Warrens Funeral Home.

The 2012 Member Business of the Year is scheduled to be unveiled later this week.

“This year marks the 15th annual SCBEX Awards and after reviewing prior years, the Chamber felt too many stories were being kept ‘under the covers’. They are stories about innovation and doing things differently, about getting a competitive edge. Every day, we run into these stories, but we need to showcase them, share the we (The Chamber) have reviewed and improved the awards program of SCBEX. The Spirit of Swift Current - SCBEX awards shines some light on the great innovative things happening in the business community and honours business and not-for-profit organizations in Swift Current that have contributed to the vibrancy of our city through their innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Darla Lindbjerg, CEO of the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce.

“This year’s nominee finalists are an interesting combination of established businesses with proven achievement records and more recent enterprises that truly show the innovative nature of the latest generation of Swift Current entrepreneurs."

The public voting to help determine the category winners is now open, with votes able to be cast by contacting the Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce.
