Poppy Parsons, local florist and owner of Smart Flowers in Swift Current, has passed her Professional Floral Design Evaluation that was held in Las Vegas this past July. She received excellent scores and as such the American Institute of Floral Design has extended an invitation for her to become an accredited member of AIFD.

Her membership in AIFD demonstrates to the floral industry and community that not only is she is an extremely talented floral design artist but also dedicated to the advancement of professional floral design through education, service and leadership.

Established in 1965, the American Institute of Floral Designers is the floral industry’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to establishing, maintaining and recognizing the highest standard of professional floral design.

The Professional Floral Design Evaluation was a four hour design session and her work was evaluated by a panel of very qualified AIFD members. During the design evaluation phase of the sessions, participants were required to demonstrate their design artistry by creating five designs in specific categories, which was announced to them during an initial briefing and process orientation that took place immediately prior to the actual designing.

Currently Parsons is the only CFD (Certified Floral Designer) as recognized by AIFD in Saskatchewan. She will be attending the AIFD Symposium in Chicago July 2014, where she will honored on stage at the Member Induction Ceremony and become a member of the highly distinguished AIFD.
