Eastend Credit Union is holding a special meeting on June 5th, at 7 p.m. in the Community Hall Tea Room in Eastend for its membership to vote on approving an amalgamation with Innovation Credit Union.
The Eastend Credit Union Board of Directors announced at their annual meeting on March 20th, that they are recommending members vote in favour of merging with Innovation Credit Union. The proposed merger is scheduled to take place Jan. 1, 2013. Eastend members will be the only members required to vote on this Amalgamation Agreement since Eastend Credit Union is less than 10 per cent of the asset size of Innovation Credit Union. The Innovation Board of Directors is able to approve the amalgamation on behalf of their members.
“We encourage Eastend Credit Union members to attend the meeting on June 5th and vote in favor of the amalgamation,” says Eastend Credit Union Board President Gwen Humphrey. “Our board has recognized the need to better compete in the financial services industry and to further improve services for our members. An amalgamation with Innovation Credit Union is the best option.”
Members must attend the meeting to vote.
