It is always remarkable how people pull together when the unexpected strikes.
When Mother Nature delivered a heavy snowfall across the region on Thursday, people awoke on Friday to a daunting task of having to dig out from under that blanket of snow.
A few of us had the pleasure of having neighbours with snowblowers walk a bunch of houses further to make quick work of deep drifts of snow on the sidewalk. This kind of helping hand was really appreciated, as many of us still had aching muscles from the day before when we were out shoveling trying to say ahead of the back breaking work which was only going to pile up as the snow fell.
To make things worse, Swift Current streets were clogged with heavy snows and travel was a problem for much of the day.
It was not uncommon to see people quickly stopping to lend a hand in digging out and then pushing out stuck vehicles. In fact, I saw drivers of three vehicles all stop at the same time, one quickly shoveled and then they all pushed a car out of a daunting snowdrift.
It is certainly heart warming to see how neighbourly people are when they see someone who truly needs their help.
It is that instant human reaction to help out someone who needs it, and it makes you proud of where you live to see people be that helpful.
Thanks Swift Current for helping out when you can.
