A little Boost

[Professional Blog] Name game always interesting

Published on February 8, 2012

When Information Services Corporation released their list of most popular baby names you could see that Kindergarten classes will have lots of Liam's, Jacob's, Emma's and Ava's in five years.

It is always interesting to see the baby name trends which highlight new names and spellings, along with a return of old favourites which are enjoying a resurgence.

But it got me wondering, do I have an older person's name?

According to the Information Services Corporation listing of most popular baby names dating back to 1998, Scott hasn't ever made it to the top 20 names in Saskatchewan.

Where have all the Scott's gone?

I see that the Broncos haven't drafted a Scott since 2004, there is only one Scott on the Saskatchewan Roughriders roster, and when you Google search Scott the first series of listings are for businesses instead of people.

Obviously, the name Scott is on the decline, but it is curious as to why names fall in and out of favour.

As a proud Scott, I hope Scott enjoys a resurgence some day, but at the very least to jump back into the top 20 in Saskatchewan.
