All of Saskatchewan is looking forward to spring, but the season has already started at Val Marie's Grasslands Gallery, with artworks focusing on the fabulous flowers, gorgeous grasses, and perfect panoramas of the Southwest.
On Easter weekend, April 21 to April 23, from noon to 4 p.m. daily, Grasslands Gallery is previewing exciting new Grasslands Collections by Southwest Saskatchewan artists, inspired by Val Marie and Grasslands National Park.
Visitors to Grasslands Gallery will see brilliant new watercolours by the internationally-exhibited Catherine Macaulay and the always breathtaking Colleen Watson, both Val Marie artists, recent bold landscape acrylics by Springfeld's Sally Knelsen, hand-made wildflower-themed jewellery by Swift Current's Elaine Robitaille, snow-dyed scarves in Grasslands colours by Louise Perrin, also of Swift Current and recently accepted as a juried member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council, and artist notebooks and pillow covers flourishing with clouds and grasses by Herbert area sisters-in-law Marie Enns and Cecilia Enns Schmid, as well as many lovely other pieces by Gallery artists.
Gallery-goers can enjoy a cup of gourmet coffee and some early Easter baking as they take in their art-filled surroundings and the beautiful southwest countryside. When the Easter preview is completed, Grasslands Gallery begins regular full time hours on May 17 for the summer season. For more information, visit www.grasslandsgallery.com or call 298-7782.
